The 19th edition of Amsterdam Fashion Week will take place from the 6th till the 16th of July 2013 and will comprise of four programmes: Downtown, the Catwalk Programme, Fashion LAB and the Business Programme.

This edition is dedicated to the development of talent and innovation and gives substance to the first and second of the three pillars of Amsterdam Fashion Week: Connect, Grow and Celebrate. With the launch of its new Fashion LAB programme Amsterdam Fashion Week emphasises the importance of the development of the Dutch fashion industry and contributes to its positioning at home and abroad.

The Netherlands and its ‘Fashion Capital’ Amsterdam can thereby place themselves even more explicitly on the international fashion map.

Amsterdam Fashion Week ‘Downtown’ with ‘Fashion Weekend’

Highlight of ‘Downtown’ – the free and publicly accessible part of Amsterdam Fashion Week – is ‘Fashion Weekend’ that takes place on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of July.
All over the Fashion & Museum District in Amsterdam South, fashion activities will be organised by participating shops, hotels, bars restaurants and museums. Besides attractive discounts and goodie bags (via VoucherCloud) from the participating entrepreneurs, eight inspiring pop-up catwalk shows will be organised on central locations, that are free to visit. On Saturday the 6th of July the spectacular party ‘Celebrate’, now a tradition, takes place in AIR. This party is organised in collaboration with the Night Mayor of Amsterdam and celebrates the connections between fashion and night life with a diverse programme by stylists, designers and artists.

Catwalk Programme

The catwalk programme for professionals again takes place in and around the Gashouder-building on the Westergasfabriek-grounds. From Friday the 12th till Tuesday the 16th of July, catwalk shows will be held here every day by both talented upcoming and established fashion designers and brands. Fashion lovers may watch all shows via a live stream on www.amsterdamfashionweek.com and via the Amsterdam Fashion Week App.

Fashion LAB

With the launch of Fashion LAB, Amsterdam Fashion Week focusses on the development of talent, the innovation climate in the Netherlands and the development of the Dutch fashion industry. Fashion LAB is an on-going talent- and innovation programme consisting of i.a. workshops, lectures and presentations, aimed at bringing creative ideas together and stimulating innovation. This edition, the Catwalk Programme provides a platform for the most promising talents during the Fashion LAB catwalk shows.
The annual Lichting-show (made possible in part by G-Star, HTNK and Het Nieuwe Instituut) shows the greatest talents of the Dutch fashion academies.
