About the artist
At an early age Athenian Georgios Cherouvim started experimenting with computer graphics and animation. After high school he moved to UK to join the Computer Animation BA course of NCCA in Bournemouth University, which he graduated with a first class degree. Since then he has worked for several years in London and Vancouver for the visual effects industry, as an FX artist and team leader.

In parallel to his professional career, he is constantly undertaking personal art projects using a variety of mediums. He has attended practical and theoretical art classes in Morley College of London and Emily Carr University in Vancouver. He is interested in sculpture, drawing, photography and animation. He has participated in several group exhibitions and two of his animation shorts have been screened in dozens of festivals around the world.

He likes traveling the world by bike and so far he has cycled across Europe and the USA.

His statement
"I am a multidisciplinary artist from Greece, who entered the world of visual arts through computer animation. In parallel to a career in Visual FX, I constantly challenge my self in various other art forms and ideas, in an attempt to expand my aesthetic vocabulary in the pursue of self expression. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been experimenting in animation, photography, sculpture and illustration.

My work is a visual representation based upon my perspective of social and political issues. I question established ideas of the modern lifestyle and how common social behaviors and ideologies have turned us against our environment and our selves. I want my work to invite the viewer to step back, observe our actions from a different perspective and associate them to the consequences.

Coming from the technical world of computers, I am currently fascinated by the simplistic nature of traditional materials that require hands on work and skills. Experimenting with different mediums and techniques, allows me to approach a concept from different angles in an attempt to create a more complete impression. The intention is to eventually bridge the gap between the digital and analogue world in my work."
