On inspiring fashion photography in editorials, covers of magazines and advertising campaigns
and anything else captured by my lens! And now embracing personal branding for success.
This evening at the Michael Cacoyiannis Foundation students of AKTO Fashion Design showed their creations. Seventeen second year students and 11 third year students (BA) kept an interesting fashion show going on. Here a first impression. The names of the students will follow.

On 25th of June was the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Summer World Games 2011 at the Ancient Olympic Stadion 'Kallimarmaron'.
The opening ceremony was based on the history of Odysseas. Ellis Papageorgakopoulou designed the costumes for this ceremony.
Here a few photos of the costumes.
Only a few hours left for the Opening Ceremony at the Olympic Stadion 'Kallimarmaron'.
Get in the spirit by looking at the mascot of this Special Olympics Apollon.
The Sun is the symbol of optimism, joy and glory.
Its light and warmth are considered a source of life and happiness. Greece, world known for its Sun, has since ancient times worshiped the Sun as a God.
Its selection as the Mascot of the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011, aims to convey the message of joy and optimism towards all athletes, and to welcome them in Greece with a big warm hug.
Even though in the Olympics Games, Apollon, as the god of Sun, is present only in the Torch lighting ceremony after being called by the High Priestess, in the Special Olympics of Athens, Apollon will be present and will spread its light to all our athletes, while they will be competing in the sports fields, by keeping the Flame of Hope lighted.
And the greek version:
I enjoyed also reading the welcome words by Joanna Despotopoulou and especially the following:
"Let us all feel the meaning of this moment. Let the noble efforts of the Special Olympics' athletes inspire you by inner strenght that makes them shine bright. Look into their eyes. Feel the thrill their effort emits. Share their joy. Say too, 'I'm in!' and keep a special place in your hearts, even when the lights of this celebration are off."
This time not about fashion or art but about a major event in Athens and about HOPE for a better world.
Tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011.
The oath of this games is unique, it should be for all the sports:
"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
This evening the "Flame of Hope" returned at the Parthenon after being carried by Special Olympics Athletes and law enforcement officers around the globe, carried with the message of “Hope” for a better world,
So this week is not a lot about fashion or art but about the attempts of these Special Olympics Athletes.

This evening I visited the opening of the exhibition "Highlights in jewelry and couture" at the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum in the center of Athens, near the Acropolis.
Impressive pieces of jewelry and couture can be seen at this museum until the 28th of December. Myrto Chatzaki is the curator of this exhibition.
"This exhibition draws on the unique collections of two specialized decorative arts museums that share a common focus on the applied arts of the 20th century and the world of fashion. Selected highlights, the best of the permanent collections of the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum and the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation are thus brought together in an exhibition structured as a visual dialogue between jewelry and couture - two distinct but interrelated facets of the world of design.
Jewels from 50 collections created by Ilias Lalaounis and the Lalaounis house between 1947 and 2008 are presented alongside selected highlights from the extensive costume collections of the PFF dating from the 19th century to the present. Through a display that addresses fashion as evidence of material culture, the exhibition challenges distinctions between high art and low art, elitist and mass culture, the contemporary and ‘the classic’ as well as between ‘eastern’ and ‘western’ forms and styles."
