A review of 2012

With only a few hours left for the New Year begins, let us have a review of some moments of 2012.

Also in 2012 I reported on a lot of fashion shows in Athens and a few in Amsterdam.
The one more impressive than the other one, the one designer more creative than the other one.
But all inspiring in its own ways.
Just type a name of a designer in the search box of this blog and I hope you will find your favorite! Most viewed on these shows in 2012 is the fashion show by the new designers during the 11th Athens Exclusive Designers Week.

On exhibitions and bazaars. Like the one by Posh Fashion, we got to know it as a blog by Tasos Lazaridis but in 2012 Posh Fashion broadens its activities. The first art installation is a fact and Tasos and his team presented many more in 2012.

Yzagor at M art 10th Bazart 2012

Tomorrow at M art in Kolonaki, a quarter of Athens, is the opening of the 10th Bazart, a group exhibition of more than forty artists.

Yzagor will be part of this exhibition with his paintings in oil and watercolour but also with a surprising game.
The opening is Saturday, the 15th of December at 3 o'clock.

About Yzagor

Yanis Zagorianakos was born in Athens in 1964. He grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa and Athens, Greece. He moved to London in 1981 where he studied Industrial Chemistry Bsc. He worked as a project scientist doing research on catalysts, batteries and colour for five years. He moved back to Athens in 1994, started painting in 1995 and followed seminars on painting in India, Athens and London. He works with oils, acrylics, watercolours, oxidised metal and wood in his studios in Athens and Amorgos. He is a full time artist.
His work can be seen in The Benaki Museum, Astrolavos and Anemos galleries in Athens as well as in the Municipal Museum of Larissa and ArtPlus gallery in Cyprus.

About M art

The M art Manolioudakis was set up by a creative combination of an unconventional group of artists and a dynamic administrative group. Representing the harmonization of art with the contemporary business and private needs, M art is able to serve even the most specialized purposes.
Found in 1996, its main objective was to create an alternative approach in the field of professional gift through special creations of gifts, permanent collected works, but also exclusive collections (Cycladic Art Museum).
The M art, guided by the international cultural trends and aiming at meeting the particular needs of even the most demanding customer, was able to be broadly recognized in the specific field, a fact which is demonstrated by its wide clientele.

Paris Valtadoros meets Swarovski @ The Mall

As part of a contest by Swarovski Tasos Lazaridis of Posh Fashion invited four fashion blogs.
The four bloggers competed for the most stylish outfit with designs by Paris Valtadoros and jewellery by Swarovski.
All week long the stylish outfits could be admired at the store in The Mall and this evening the outfits were worn by models as part of the Christmas Fashion Show in The Mall.

Not only the bloggers could win a price but also one of the visitors who voted for the winning outfit.

The art direction was by Posh Fashion and he was called on stage to inform us about the collection of Swarovski, Kingdom of Jewels. Dressed in a design by Paris Valtadoros.

Fairytale...design at Michael Cacoyiannis Foundation

Today at 12 o'clock at Michael Cacoyiannis Foundation, in Athens, is the opening of  'Fairytale...Design' an exhibition with fairy costumes and fairy creations by the students and designers of PANSIK Fashion School.

 

The Story-teller Sasa Voulgari inspires the designers of PANSIK Fashion School with her fairytales.

 

On the occasion of 200 years since the first publication of Brother Grimm fairytales and the festivity of 20 years since Sasa’s Voulgari first narration, Sasa Voulgari in cooperation with the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation are organizing a fairy-festivity with fairy collaborations! Graduated students and current students from PANSIK Fashion School, they create an exhibition with theatrical objects, drawings and costumes.

Cinderella’s closet, Rapunzel’s combs, Witch’s vases, the shoe-case of the 7 dwarfs, the enormous sole of the Giant, mirrors, gloves, secret seeds, magic boxes and trunks… 

An exhibition with fairy objects, drafts and various surprises, all being inspired by fairytales. The exhibition is until Sunday the 6th of January 2013, opening hours 18:00 - 22:00, free entrance.

Vassilis Zoulias Spring-Summer 2013 - Shoe ornaments by Pericles Kondylatos

Ten years ago Vassilis Zoulias started his first boutique in Kolonaki with shoes and bags. Since than he has become a well-known fashion designer.
Friday evening at hotel Grande Bretagne he celebrated it with a tea party and by presenting his collection for spring-summer 2013 including his shoes and bags.
For his new shoe collection he collaborated with artist Pericles Kondylatos.
Here a glimpse of the inspiring ornaments Kondylatos made for the shoes adding a new dimension to the shoes by Vassilis Zoulias.

Yesterday evening Vassilis Zoulias celebrated his 10 years of fashion designer with an elegant and colorful collection for spring-summer 2013 at Hotel Grande Bretagne in the center of Athens.

Mara Kartali jewelry collection 2012-2013

Yesterday evening at a hotel in Kolonaki, a quarter of Athens Fani Xenophontos and Mara Kartali presented their winter collections as part of a fashion dinner.
Fani's collection you could see in a previous post, now it is Mara's turn with some appealing jewelry.
