Opening my mailbox I enjoyed seeing this heart watch by Marc Jacobs. A great gift for Valentine's Day. And fashionable for coming season, I love to add red as accessory!

Jean Paul Gaultier's tribute to Pierre Cardin

Jean Paul Gaultier gave a great show with a tribute to Pierre Cardin during Paris Couture Week. Pierre Cardin is a legend in the fashion industry, the designer is known for his avant-garde style and his Space Age designs. And not only! I met Pierre Cardin during his visit in Athens for a theatre performance, see my review on his visit. And he left a huge impression on me. Reading about Jean Paul Gaultier's tribute it brought back many happy memories. Not only meeting Pierre Cardin but also meeting Jean Paul Gaultier. Two well known fashion designers, full of positive energy and so interested in talking with me! So down to earth, many designers could learn from them!

Jean Paul Gaultier's first job in the 1960s at the age of 17 was with Pierre Cardin and in WWD I read Cardin's reaction: “It was superb, I haven’t seen all his shows, but this one won me over completely with its creativity, its originality, with no vulgarity at all.”

I selected these two looks.

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2018 - Model Van von Bürhen -pinstripe

I love this pinstripe look. The pants, the top it is so sophisticated. A must-have for me!

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2018 - Model Huanhuan Fu

This gown is just amazing, I love the cut, the print and the styling!

The backdrop during the show is by Bridget Riley. I enjoyed the moving geometric forms.
Bridget Riley's paintings of the 1960s are iconic and is the base of the Op Art movement, which exploited optical illusions to make the two-dimensional surface of the painting seem to move, vibrate, and sparkle.

Steven Meisel for ZARA Spring 2018

ZARA launched her spring-summer 2018 campaign with amazing photos by Steven Meisel.

I love the setting, the simple background with wall paper and jute in different colours. The lighting of the models. The way Steven Meisel plays with the shadows on the background.
The styling with the colourful accessories, it all looks great.

Iris van Herpen's 'Ludi Naturae' for Spring 2018

Iris van Herpen amazed once again her audience with her perfect designs. This time presenting games of nature: Ludi Naturae. Inspired by the complexity of nature she put an interesting collection on the runway during Paris Couture Week.
This spring 2018 collection is vivid and optimistic, fusing the artificial with the organic. The color palette is from skin colours to faded greens, yellows, blues and purples.
Leaf-like patterns are 3D printed, lasercutting is used for perforated diminishing patterns, Iris shows how to combine the latest technology in haute couture and making us believe it is very wearable!

The dutch designer examines the natural and manmade landscapes of our world from a bird’s-eye view, tracing the laws of entropy.
Following the original inspiration, Van Herpen collaborated with the Dutch artist Peter Gentenaar, who is known for capturing ‘organic memory’ and motion in his delicate large-scale cellulose sculptures. For this show, Gentenaar created a site-specific floating installation that blossoms around the garments as the models move.

I choose these three looks as it gives you a good impression of the show! With the 3D printing, the 3D printing on tulle and the lasercutting.

Amsterdam Fashion Trade Event aka Modefabriek

Modefabriek is more than a fashion trade, it is a fashion event with interesting talks, pop-up shows, seminars, and food & drinks. I left this event with a lot of inspiration!

Modefabriek 2018 - RAI AMSTERDAM

The RAI in Amsterdam was full of international and local brands, all showing their collection for coming fall-winter saison. Inspiring shop windows, a green screen video pop up store, an expo on slogan t-shirts, and a special place for the next generation.

Tribute to slogan T-shirts at Modefabriek

T-shirts with bold slogans are all the rage again, thanks to recent political and social upheaval. For Modefabriek to pay a tribute to slogan t-shirts.

It started in the seventies of the past century but in the eighties Katharine Hamnett took it a step further with her now iconic oversized BLOCK LETTER slogan t-shirts (CHOOSE LIFE! SAVE THE FUTURE!). These shirts were enthusiastically promoted by top models such as Naomi Campbell and artists such as WHAM! (see ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’).

CHOOSE LIFE! by Katherine Hamnett - George Michael - Wake me up before you gogo - Wham

Hamnett’s slogan t-shirts have since been copied, but that was the original intention. Power to the people! Say it loud and say it proud! What’s your slogan for the new year?

It is a cat's world - Meet Zarathustra

Cats are everywhere, they are the most adorable creatures of the world. At least that is my opinion. Not every cat likes a lot of hugs but my big greek cat family does. But back to art, I like you to introduce to you Zarathustra, the 'fat cat' of Russian artist Svetlana Petrova.

Svetlana added her ginger cat to the most famous paintings of the world. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rafael, El Greco, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, Van Gogh, Munch, Salvador Dali, Grant Wood are looking great with the appearance of Zarathustra. By adding Zarathustra, the fat ginger cat, to these masterpieces Svetlana Petrova created new pieces of art.

Svetlana created so many new paintings, it is a joy for the eye to scroll down all these amazing paintings.

For my blog I shared these three, it was difficult to select, because all the paintings are just great.

It is all about flowers @ Blugirl Spring 2018

Seeing the new campaign of Blugirl, I am longing for spring. These flower dresses want to be worn and I can't wait!
Charlotte Folkman is captured by Michelangelo di Battista, hairstyling by Neil Moodie and make up by Florrie White.

These are my favourite picks! The trend 'off shoulder' continues this spring.
By the way I adore the earrings! The combination of red and pink in this dress and returning in Charlotte's lipstick and earrings are stunning.

In this look the flower off shoulder top is combined with a long skirt full of flowers. The red handbag with the small bow is a must have bag.
