130 of the world's quirkiest, funkiest, most creative personalities were invited to reinterpretate, to recreate, to reinvent the original Eastpak backpack. The bag famous for becoming a reflection of its environment and an extension of its owner’s body has now become the extension of the world’s foremost artistic minds, all for charity. In 2012 Eastpak has chosen for the charity program Designers Against AIDS, to help raise awareness for HIV/AIDS and promote prevention as the only cure for this insidious disease. From painters, sculptors and street artists to DJs, rock stars, fashion designers and even celebrity chefs were invited to create an unique backpack.
Also some artists living in Greece participated, here a few of them.
Al Giga designed together with Yorgos Pantazonas the first one, the second with Vasia Tzotzopoulou and the third one with Dimitris Petrou. Read Al Giga's interview here.
Georgina Skalidi, known for her clutches, designed these ones, all covered by leather. Read Georgina's interview here.
And Stelios Koudounaris these ones, made of silver and golden reflective materials. They create a modern sculptural form which is a luxurious, “naughty” and edgy piece of fashion.
The bags are still for sale, if you are interested click here for more information.
