All about Yves Saint Laurent Summer 2012 Look
Anais Pouliot is captured by Terry Richardson for the summer 2012 look of Yves Saint Laurent. Styling by Joe McKenna.
For the make-up of summer 2012, Yves Saint Laurent suggests a warm and luminous skin, the result of sunlight, with earthy tones that brings the thoughts of the sand and the iridescence of shells. For color contrast, focus on intense blue eyes, creating a volume bar. The iconic bronze, python print palette Terre Saharienne was inspired by Yves Saint Laurent Couture accessories and the characteristic pink and golden sand.
“I remember Harbor Island in the Bahamas where the sand is pink and another island in Mexico where it is gold. The light from these sands reflected on the skin is so sublime that these islands have become favorite spots for fashion shoots. This is the light that inspired me to create the Terre Saharienne shades.” Lloyd Simmonds - Creative Director Make-up Yves Saint Laurent.

Gucci releases an eco-friendly shoe line
Gucci is coming out with an eco-friendly line of flats, designed by its creative director, Frida Giannini.
The line is called Sustainable Soles and is made of biodegradable plastic.
The female shoes are ballerina flat and will be available in three colors including blush, taupe and black. These shoes feature cutout details and the company’s signature GG motif.
The men’s style is a sneaker having bio-rubber soles which will be available in both a high and low-top. However, the upper part of the shoe is in vegetable tanned calfskin and has bio strings. The sneakers also possess tongues featuring the Gucci logo printed in green on a recycled polyester label.
The eco-friendly designs are part of the pre-fall 2012 collection and it will be available in Gucci’s showrooms and in e-commerce at the end of June.

Show me your shoes and I know your nationality!
Women have always had an obsession with shoes. It is not a national but a global phenomenon. In a study involving Euromonitor, Mintel and the European online shoe retailer Spartoo.com, the researchers tried to find the link between shoes and nationality by identifying and better understanding.
A few remarkable findings:
1. American women buy more shoes than their European colleagues. With an average of 5.8 pairs per year they buy a few more than European women (4.2) and three pairs of shoes more than Asian (2.7).
2. In Europe French women are on top on the number of pairs bought: six per year. A self-respecting French woman has a pair of stilettos in her shoe closet, Christian Louboutin for example, but also ballerinas.
3. British women buy an average of 5.4 pairs per year. The preferred brands are here Pretty Ballerinas and Manolo Blahnik, like the super model Kate Moss does, but also the heavy Dr. Martens shoes and boots continue to do well in the UK.
4. Italian women buying 5.2 pairs per year and loving high heels. An Italian fashion freak wears easily a 12 cm high heels on the street for an aperitif.
5. Northern European women are much sportier. In Belgium (on average less than 3.9 pairs per woman) and The Netherlands (4.7 pairs per woman) a lot of women wears easy and flexible shoes, and sneakers.
6. The European footwear market for women has a value of 50 billion, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK cover 70%.

Jean Paul Gaultier for Madonna's MDNA Concert Tour
Today starts Madonna's MDNA Concert Tour, kicking off in Tel Aviv.
It will mark her biggest tour yet with 90 shows and will include her first concerts in Australia in nearly 20 years, as well as many markets she has never played before. This tour will play 32 European markets, including London, Rome, Milan, Paris, Barcelona and Berlin, before hitting North America with 45 shows.
And her performance in this outfit in Tel Aviv
Madonna will change outfit seven or eight times during the concert.
The Material Girl’s parade of costume changes includes outfits from longtime collaborators Jean Paul Gaultier and Jeremy Scott, shoes from Prada and Miu Miu and pieces from Alexander Wang. Dolce & Gabbana made suits for the band and background vocalists, Fausto Puglisi created menacing bandolier vests and rams head masks for the backup dancers and even J Brand whipped up custom-made jeans.
Bras and panties — including one heart-shaped style from Madonna’s new intimates line Truth or Dare — are incorporated into some numbers, as are shoes from the new Truth or Dare footwear line, at retail this fall. A somber, elegiac version of the usually peppy “Like a Virgin” will be sung by Madonna in an Agent Provocateur bra.
“It’s a real journey from the first act to the fourth, and the way she constructs her shows is like a theater piece,” said costume designer and stylist Arianne Phillips, who oversaw the entire wardrobe design for Madonna, her backup singers, musicians and 22 backup dancers. Scott, for his part, has been camped out in Tel Aviv this week, working till the last minute on some costumes.
The original Gaultier design is worn during the “Vogue” number and includes a white shirt, black
tie, opera-length black gloves and a rigid skeleton corset. The getup references the iconic pink bustier-with-pin-striped suit look the designer created for Madonna’s 1990 Blond Ambition world tour, widely considered a pinnacle of both of their careers.
“We played with the ideas of a suit and a corset. But the corset is now like a cage,” explained Gaultier. “What I have done this time is a nod to the conical bra corset of the Blond Ambition tour but reinterpreted in 3-D, in patent leather on the outside with metallic leather on the inside. It’s all about masculine and feminine, Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier classics reinterpreted for 2012.”
The designer and Phillips also re-created some archival Gaultier pieces for Madonna’s dancers, as an homage to his long relationship with the iconic singer. Gaultier was also responsible for the kinky equestrian and “Saturday Night Fever”-inspired looks of Madonna’s 2006 Confessions tour, and she once walked his runway with her nipples exposed.
“I love Madonna. She is the only woman I have asked to marry me. She refused, of course,” added Gaultier. “But when she asked me to do a costume for her for this tour, I couldn’t refuse.”
Prada created high-heeled shoes for the male dancers in the gender-bending “Vogue” performance, which includes imagery of the Vogue magazine logo on massive video screens.

Katerina Psoma's new project
Katerina Psoma is known for her jewelry but last week I spotted her with a new project of her. Handwoven handbags, inspired by the greek folklore! Inspired by the tourist shops on the greek islands and the traditional weaving looms she is preparing a collection with handwoven bags. Here a snapshot of such a bag.
Katerina developed her love of vintage materials whilst she studied History of Art at Rome and London. During her doctoral studies, she travelled around the world to broaden her artistic horizons. These trips inspired her to forage for jewellery, unique trinkets and charms in an array of flea markets. Based in these findings, she created the first personalised pieces.
Each piece is unique, handmade and numbered. Coupling vintage charms, semi precious stones, wooden and odd murano beads, she has never strayed from creativity. Can't wait to see more of her new project!

Yesterday afternoon was the launch of the new fragrance by Nine West, Love Fury, at Sephora store in The Mall Athens.
Love Fury is a mix of luscious fruits and decadent florals, blended with the warmth of seductively addicitve woods, a truly intoxicating signature. The eau de parfum is housed in a beveled-edge glass bottle with a black cap that replicated the heel of a shoe.
And a lauch accompanied by cupcakes and
cocktails by Cointreau.
