Gucci releases an eco-friendly shoe line

Gucci is coming out with an eco-friendly line of flats, designed by its creative director, Frida Giannini.
The line is called Sustainable Soles and is made of biodegradable plastic.

The female shoes are ballerina flat and will be available in three colors including blush, taupe and black. These shoes feature cutout details and the company’s signature GG motif.

The men’s style is a sneaker having bio-rubber soles which will be available in both a high and low-top. However, the upper part of the shoe is in vegetable tanned calfskin and has bio strings. The sneakers also possess tongues featuring the Gucci logo printed in green on a recycled polyester label.

The eco-friendly designs are part of the pre-fall 2012 collection and it will be available in Gucci’s showrooms and in e-commerce at the end of June.
