Miguel Vallinas dresses up animals for World Animal Day.

Today is World Animal Day and I am sharing for this celebration the work of Miguel Vallinas, a photographer who did amazing work in photoshop to dress animals in clothing.
In his project Segundas Pieles (Second Skins), he has taken fanciful anthropomorphic notions to realistic and humorous extremes. Plus, no animals were harmed or embarrassed.

About the photographer
Miguel Vallinas is a advertising and industrial photographer, based in Madrid, Spain. He spends much of his time to his personal work in studying the landscape meaning the pure nature, the cityscape, contemporary architecture, portraits, etc..
In his photographs he tries not to leave room for improvisation by performing a preliminary study of the place, the light of all those factors. The technique is central to his work at the time of taking the pictures and post later work. We could say that his work is a search for beauty understood through his eyes.

Second Skin is presented as a possible continuation of a previous collection called Skins. These two series of photographs with several ties in common, both are composed of several portraits of people which aims to investigate the internal aspects of the human being, but treated differently, focusing on different aspects to try to understand the inner reality of a man.

If in the previous collection portrays the same person playing different trades or professions with the intention to reflect on the choice of the individual to be at a certain time of life.
Second skins shows a range of possible personalities which are or not in our power, we are imposed or adopted under the circumstances. The images in this series try to isolate the character, ignore its context and references, based solely on the individual self.

About World Animal Day
World Animal Day is celebrated each year on October the 4th.
It started in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned in locations all over the globe.

The 4th of October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment.

World Animal Day, however, has now gone beyond being the celebration of a Christian saint and is today observed by animal-lovers of all beliefs, nationalities and backgrounds.
Animal blessings are held in churches and by independent animal chaplains in parks and fields.

Animal rescue shelters hold fundraising events and open days, wildlife groups organize information displays, schools undertake animal-related project work and individuals and groups of friends or co-workers donate to animal charities or pledge to sponsor a shelter animal.
