Introducing Alexia Parmigiani spring-summer 2014 collection

The spring/summer collection 2014 from Alexia Parmigiani features over 30 pieces including kaftans, cover-ups as well as her striking signature scarves, many of which come oversized or super-long this season.

Since establishing her Alexia brand in 2005, Parmigiani has developed a range that offers infinite styling opportunities, while each creation is presented to the customer in its own branded drawstring bag.

"Each woman drapes, twists, ties and coordinates a scarf differently, explains the 37-year old designer. "Most of my pieces are more than a scarf and there are no boundaries to the shapes, silhouettes or sizes that I am able to offer."

Elaborate themes this season range from fantasy prints; an exotic jungle-inspired take on nature as well as vivid patterns that celebrate the glamour and style of retro bathing.

Channelling an era when Esther Williams was celebrated for being both a swimmer and a movie star pin-up, the silk georgette Riviera scarf comes dotted with bathing figures and edged with geometric repeat patterns. Retro beachside scenes also feature on the Bardot modal top and silk georgette poncho or on the Party Pool scarf.

From parrots to palm trees, everything literally pops on Palm Springs pieces, which include a zip-neck top and a scarf. But it is Alexia's striking Beetlejuice pattern - sure to stop admirers in their tracks - that is the highlight of this collection. There's a kaftan in lightweight silk georgette in tangerine or limoncello, or the Beetlejuice scarf in sumptuous silk satin sized generously and totalling three metres in length.

While scarves become more super-sized, some elements of the collection remain the same. Take trims, which have become an Alexia signature. This season there's fringing, tassels and lace edging, together with super soft suede fringe that adds weight to the Moloko scarf - one of the collection's most extravagant pieces.

Produced in some of the finest factories in the UK and India, this season the collection comes in luxury fabrics including fine 100 per cent cotton, silk georgette, silk chiffon, silk satin, modal to a lightweight cashmere mix.
