Spotted: MUCO

Tuesday night in Van Waay Interieurs in Benthuizen at a business conference I spotted this lady in black and white coat with MUCO as accessory.

The photo with MUCO, a stuffed monkey, went around the world. First there was a lot of outrage that a separatist in the Ukraine was holding the toy as trophy after the plane crash, later we heard the story behind the photo.  In the Netherlands photographer Pierre Crom even won a price for it, the zilveren camera, but a lot of people don't know that this little monkey is bought for a good cause.

By buying the monkey MUCO you support the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.

Spotted in Amsterdam: Faux Fur

During my visit to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam these two lovely ladies in faux fur posed for my camera.

EVAN Menswear @ Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam

Monday the 26th of January Design Talent Evana Kuik (25) presented for the third time at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Amsterdam her label EVAN Menswear.
The theme of the new men's collection for Fall-Winter 2015-2016 is 'Wild Little Illusion Machine'.

In January 2014 Evana Kuik debuted the label with her men's collection at the Amsterdam Fashion Week. The designer graduated only four months earlier, at the Willem de Kooning Academy.
EVAN Menswear is a label for tough men who want to dress modern, but do not like too much fuss. Items for 'The New businessman today.

During the show, we got a glimpse into the world of Evana and her own 'Wild Little Illusion Machine'. Evana opened with
With a storyline that is about a boy who confuses dreams with reality. Reality is for him a mix of facts and illusions. The line in which fantasy and reality are balanced was represented by five twins, wrapped in very detailed creations.
This elaboration of details and the use of contrasting materials is stronger than in previous collections and reflects Evana's growth and development.
But the recognisable signature EVAN Menswear, in silhouette and style, has remained strong visible. The designer is looking for the limits of men's fashion, with a surprising and unexpected result.

In October Evana opened on the Coolsingel 83 in Rotterdam her own concept store called INCONCEPT. A platform for young talents and designers under one roof, their designs can make the man.
Of course also EVAN Menswear is available here besides the products of the sponsor of the show: Dermalogica.

Here my photo review.

My visit @ Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam

Monday afternoon I visited the Westergasfabriek in the capital of the Netherlands for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam.
It is already the 22nd edition, and I love the sponsoring by Mercedes Benz as the cars are driving up and down to the parking, so in your fashionable clothing and high heels you don't have to walk through the rain!

This time Mercedes Benz had put and interesting set for the guests to get photographed. In the well known logo of MB you got a interesting photo, starring at the MBFWA.

When you think of the ultimate upcoming hot spot in Amsterdam, De Hallen is the place to be.

On the last day of Zalando 10 Days Downtown, Zalando cooperated with Pakhuis de Zwijger, Paperdoll and De Hallen to host Local Goods Market: Fashion Special.

We went back to basic with local urban fashion, music and pure craftsmanship. Special attention was paid to young independent labels and designers with their unique stories and local products.

SCHUELLER DE WAAL's Speculative Realism' for A/W 2015 @ Fashion Week Amsterdam

Yesterday SCHUELLER DE WAAL designer duo presented their autumn / winter 2015 collection 'Speculative Realism' during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Amsterdam.
This second collection is the next step in defining the SCHUELLER DE WAAL handwriting and shows their distinct eclectic and unconventional vision of occasion wear.

The collection was presented on models and muses - a group of women who admire the designers and their inspiration in the design process. Singer Ntjam Rosie, author Hanna Bervoets, actress Eva Bartels, John Possel (director Mediamatic), singer Ming, DJs Charlotte van den Brekel and Elise Braas (Space Girls) and photographer Alexandra Hunts carried the vision of the designers on the catwalk.

"Speculative Realism" challenges the imagination, it is a celebration of decadence in an alienating setting of contrasts. SCHUELLER DE WAAL combines elements of sci-fi, pop and surrealism successfully to an eclectic but balanced remix. The collection is twofold and represents two completely different versions of the same looks.
The first series is colorful and is outputted in luxury materials with frivolous decorations. As a contrast of each full-color look equally intriguing black version, as a reference to the 'black label' big brands that focus on more salable collections.
In both looks silhouettes refer together - from I to A line from robe manteau to cocktail dress, midi to mini, one-piece to deux-piece, and symmetric to asymmetric.
Delivered accessories make the look complete: perspex ear jewellery and velcro collars with chain detailing add an alienating glamour.
The signature tortellini-bag appears in a new version.

The colors, from lipstick red and shocking pink to lilac and shiny silver, dominate the picture. This part of the collection watch occasion wear from a couture weft, where luxurious fabrics like velvet neoprene, double wool-twill silk, mohair wool and organza processed in contrasting combinations. Bound together surfaces give surprising volumes of self-edge materials. They give the looks an extremely chic look.

SCHUELLER DE WAAL give their series 'noir', translations to a different dimension to the colorful designs by playing with textures, stripes and elastic detailing. The black variety of materials - from washed denim, high-tech polyester and stretch mesh - are complemented by contrasting electric pistachio Mongolian lamb.
Sportswear references give the dresses accessible and modern character.

About the designers

SCHUELLER DE WAAL is formed by Philipp Schueller (1983) and Rens de Waal (1984). The designers graduated from the London Royal College of Art and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Maastricht. Since 2014 they form SCHUELLER de Waal - a label which their creative visions meet, clash and coalesce. Their eclectic mix of textures and colors, distinct shapes, playful prints, decorations and finishes forms the basis for a new proposal for occasion wear.
Earlier SCHUELLER de Waal presented their collection during Paris Fashion Week.
