All about H&M Conscious Actions to make fashion sustainable and sustainability fashionable

Today, H&M published its Conscious Actions Sustainability Report 2014. The progress made shows that H&M is at the forefront of sustainability. Some of the highlights are the expansion of the public supplier factory list, the ambition to only use renewable electricity and the increase of the amount of products made of recycled cotton from collected garments with 300 percent. In addition, H&M sees positive development in the continuous work towards fair living wages. H&M Conscious stands for a more sustainable fashion future. It’s consisting of seven commitments and is built on passion, long-term thinking and teamwork.

All H&M Conscious does must be economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. It is all highly connected and equally important for future growth.

Their starting point is the desire to make more sustainable fashion choices available, affordable and attractive to as many people as possible. At the same time H&M addresses the challenges in the fashion industry.
Clean water, climate change, textile waste and wages and overtime in supplier factories are some of the key issues. And generally our planet is facing scarcity issues on many fronts and still too many people live in poverty.
H&M want to make fashion sustainable and sustainability fashionable. So they want to use their scale to create systemic change within the fashion industry. Together with colleagues, customers, stakeholders, business partners and peers, they have the opportunity to bring about massive change – all the way from improving the livelihood of a cotton farmer to lowering the impacts from washing and drying our clothes.
Ultimately, H&M wants to make fashion sustainable and sustainability fashionable.
