On the second day of Zalando presents 10 Days Downtown Dennis Diem presented his collection in a very spectacular way during 'Fashion at the Park' in Vondel CS, in Amsterdam.
This inspiring place in the Vondelpark paid tribute to fashion and opera and presented it in a unique way to the public.
With a view on the Vondelpark in the center of Amsterdam, Dennis Diem completed 'Fashion at the Park' by showing his collection in a surprising way. The performance of soprano Frédérique Klooster was the icing on top of the cake!
Talking about cake before the show started fashionable sweets were prepared and styled by Marlijn Overakker.
Dennis Diem is a dutch fashion designer, he approaches fashion as an exercise in craftsmanship. So much so, that handcrafted clothes made with traditional methods have become his signature.
He made a detailed study of Marie Antoinette’s original corsets before starting to handcraft his own corsets.
Diem’s fascination with corsets arises from the way in which they alter and enhance the female form. “A woman’s posture is transformed as soon as the body is laced”, he says. High-heeled shoes are fundamental to his work for the same reason. “High-heeled shoes have the power to instantly change a woman’s aura”, he adds.
VondelCS is a meeting place in the Vondelpark where art, culture, opinion and media come together.
During the 23rd edition of the Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam, Zalando organises inspiring and accessible events throughout the city of Amsterdam.
