Meeting David Bowie @ Groninger Museum

Until the 13th of March 2016 you can visit David Bowie's exhibition in Groninger Museum in the north of the Netherlands. A very complete exhibition of all David's steps in his career, with music, film, photos, clothing and more, a multimedia experience!
His influence on culture, from music and theater to design and fashion are well displayed.
And still he is an inspiration for many fashion designers.

It is a fascinating exhibition for music & film lovers but also for fashion lovers as designs of Alexander McQueen, Kansai Yamamoto and Hedi Slimane are on display.

David Bowie is one of the most pioneering and influential artists of our times. Over 300 objects from the David Bowie Archive, for example handwritten lyrics, original costumes, designs of album covers and other rare material,  from the past 50 years reflects his incredible career.
The exhibition is curated by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Photos displayed in the hall, it is not allowed to take photos of the exhibition

The exhibition travelled from London via among others Toronto, Sao Paulo, Chicago, Melbourne, Paris and Berlin to Groningen.

And in Groningen I visited it! I loved the way the exhibition was organised, all his career steps were shown, a real chameleon, always in process and developing, interesting settings, his songs and fragments of his films.
Maybe his costumes in the last room could be displayed a bit better but it was a great spectacle with the lighting on and off in the different boxes and the video installations.

For me it was too busy, to have a closer look at the items I had to wait although the Groninger Museum organised time slots there were too many people at the same time. I shouldn't have visited it during the Christmas holidays!

David Bowie's stylish performances and his well tailored suits are my favourites, a pity it wasn't allowed to take photos otherwise I had shared it here!

Thinking about David Bowie is always thinking of Let's dance!

Have a look at the following film on the exhibition with interesting pictures of the experience and comments of the industry.

So schedule well before visiting the exhibition as it can be very busy!
