OBJECT Rotterdam is the fair for contemporary design and takes place simultaneously with Art Rotterdam, from Friday 12 through Sunday 14 February 2016.
The fair at SS Rotterdam will be hosted in the dining rooms, sleeping huts and on the indoor and outdoor decks of the impressive cruise ship. This edition the fair will also utilize the original indoor swimming pool and - exclusively for this occasion - the old mortuary is open to visitors.
Music lovers can enjoy the special jazz performances on board.
Visitors can use the yacht Thalassa as a shuttleservice between the Wilhelminapier and the SS Rotterdam.
Design, art and fashion
OBJECT Rotterdam shows limited editions and unique pieces on the crossover of design, art and fashion. The fair presents work by more than sixty national and international, established and upcoming designers, from different design disciplines and in a wide variety of materials. For three days, OBJECT Rotterdam opens its doors for collectors, professionals and other design lovers.
Jazz performances turn the clock back to old times
Besides a great dose of design, OBJECT Rotterdam also offers visitors a jazz program. In style with the history of the SS Rotterdam, during the fair jazz performances will take place in the attractive La Fontaine room, the Captain’s Lounge and the Ocean bar.
Sailing to the fair
SS Rotterdam is the ‘Grande Dame’ of the port of Rotterdam, located on the head of Katendrecht. During OBJECT Rotterdam a special shuttle boat brings visitors from the Wilhelminapier to the ship. The beautiful yacht the Thalassa sails visitors directly from the Waternetsteiger to the SS Rotterdam for five euros. A great experience in itself. After a 30-minute cruise visitors directly board the fair at the spectacular backside of the famous ship.
