Yesterday Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam kicked of with new talent. The first show by Karim Adduchi took us on a journey to Morocco, the young designer was inspired by the Berber women. I loved the use of folklore fabrics, the colours and the styles. The red coat is a must-have!
The second show Lichting 2016, a contest for 14 graduates of 7 fashion academies was a joy for the eye. Each designer presented their best designs.
The jury with Michael Kampe, head of design Hugo Boss, Rem Koolhaas, creative director United Nudes, Ferry Schoew, fashion trend forecaster and Bram van Diepen, menswear designer Louis Vuitton had to select the best graduate.
Danial Aitouganov, AMFI graduate, opened the show with is colourful Karel Appel inspired collection "The second sex" full of voluminous silhouettes, impressive hats and geometric bags.
The jury selected Danial Aitouganov as the best graduate, he is the winner of Lichting 2016 and received 10.000 euro of the Meester Koetsier Foundation.
Marlou Breuls, also AMFI graduate, presented her collection completely in red. The Persian rug draped as dress, the suit made of latex, leather combined with satin and the folded gown were most appreciated by the guests, she won the audience's favourite award, sponsored by Converse.
During the evening in Transformatorhuis 10 years of Lichting was on display. In the exposition all the winning designs of earlier years were present, among them also the winning design of Karim Adduchi.
