On April 28th 2013, the competition at the Hyeres International Fashion Festival awarded the young Finnish designer, Satu Maaranen for her women’s collection.
Offering unparalleled access to the veritable world of fashion and style is the Hyères Festival, celebrating fashion full of poesy and excess in a haute couture spirit.
Didier Grumbach, President of the Fédération française de la couture (and President of Hyères Festival) said after the event that he pays particular attention to the personality of the designer:
“These days, it is the brand that matters more than the price or product. [The brand] is symbolized, at least initially, by the individual.
“ Heavily inspired by paint workshops, the use of splashed print, brush strokes or peaceful flowers, Satu Maaranen’s “arty” spirit of fashion resculpts the silhouette through her use of oversized volumes. Within her collection, we sense inspiration taken from the costumes designed by Hubert de Givenchy for Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday”, restyled in cocoon volumes.
To render the wardrobe even more modern, the designer also implements natural textures to some of her pieces, such as fragments of grass or sand…
Looking forward to the collection to follow and her next visit to the Première Vision tradeshow, check out the designer’s website…
