Zara introduces a new material for their spring 2017 collection: refibra™lyocell
Zara collaborates with the Lenzing company. Zara gives their fabric residue to recycle it into this new fiber. The company contributes in this way to a circular system with no waste.
For the refibra fiber the technique of TENCEL is used. A production process that stands for the highest environmental standards. Lenzing received for this special process the "European Award for the Environment" from the European Union.
Textiles of TENCEL are more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.
In the classic recycling of textile waste the fabric is shredded and blended with pure fibres to create new fabrics. At the moment just a part of second hand clothing can be transformed into new fabrics.
Zara collaborates with textile suppliers in the development of new techniques.
