Fashion Films at Fashion Workshop by Vicky Kaya

Friday evening at Fashion Workshop by Vicky Kaya it was all about films. Starting with a film on photographer Annie Leibovitz - Life Through a Lens, followed by Yves Saint Laurent, Tout Terriblement and Valentino, The Last Emperor.

The first film about Annie Leibovitz gave us an inside of her photographic life, from her work with Rolling Stone magazine through to her Hollywood cover portraits at Vanity Fair and editorials for Vogue magazine. She has also recorded the horrors of war in Rwanda and Sarajevo and taken intimate shots her own friends and family.

Yves Saint Laurent is probably the last great representative of the world of Haute Couture. In his film his memoires are read by Jeanne Moreau with archive footage of a master at work: sketching feverishly, putting the finishing touches to a collection in his atelier, preparing the models before a show; all done with the eyes of a true perfectionist gazing out from behind his trademark square-framed glasses.

And last but not least the fascinating documentary on the life of legendary fashion designer Valentino Garavani. A story of friendship, a retrospective, and a look at haute couture as business.

If you haven't seen the films yet and missed the wonderful evening at Fashion Workshop by Vicky Kaya, try to have a look at them. They are very inspiring!
