Maison The Faux @ Amsterdam Fashion Week

Maison The Faux organised a special experience for the guests of the 24th Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. Instead of a show, the guests had to walk themselves on the catwalk, but in a very hectic way, turning into a maze of fences, listening to a honking car, seeing flashes of lights and screams of dressed up people with silver masks wanting to get through.

It were the actors of the show. They decided whether you get through the line to reach the ultimate goal, the mirror house at the end of the catwalk. I got a red sticker, like others did, but not everyone and sometimes I had to wait, sometimes I had to move faster.
It was all an act, created by Maison The Faux.

Maison The Faux is the label of Tessa de Boer and Joris Suk and they showed their vision on the behaviour of visitors to a fashion week. The designer duo hold the mirror up to public of Amsterdam Fashion Week

Finally I reached 'the Palace of Mirrors'. A cottage with an entrance and an exit with a white cloth for the doorways.

A mannequin lies with the head in the water, a model sings and another pours water in the pond. Reminding us of Narcissus, the Greek mythological figure, who fell in love with his own reflection in the water and drowned but a lot of time to look we didn't have, we were ordered to move on.

It was an experience, I don't know if I liked it or not. I couldn't see the clothing of the models but that wasn't probably the goal of Tessa and Joris. As act it was interesting and liked it. As catwalk show for fashion week I didn't liked it as I couldn't see the collection and that was my goal to see!
